At Bisland House Bed and Breakfast, we have made it a habit to serve homemade jelly at breakfast with buttermilk biscuits. Ms. Betty Franks, known as “Aunt Betty”, has the best homemade jellies in the area. You can find her at the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market here in Natchez every Saturday morning from 8 am until noon, right down the street from us in the 100 block of S. Commerce St. She is also usually at the Farmer’s Market in Vidalia, La. every Wednesday morning from 9 am until 1 pm. We love and our guests love her Mayhaw jelly, Muscadine Jelly, and her various flavors of Pepper Jelly. My favorite is her Raspberry Pepper Jelly. Great on crackers with cream cheese or just on crackers alone. Yum, Yum. My children and grandchildren refer to her jellies as “the good jelly”. She offers many other jelly flavors, made with fresh ingredients from the area. Go by and see her and check out all the choices. Tell her Christine sent you. And, if you like Bread and Butter Pickles, her sister, Aline, is there with her with her wonderful pickles and other pickled vegetables.
Other vendors offer fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, arts and crafts, jewelry, plants, and much more. So come visit in downtown Natchez on Saturday morning and join us at the Farmer’s Market.
